Together with Chef Ezgi Bal, we’ve prepared a simple and nourishing recipe to support your baby’s transition to solid foods: Sweet Potato Purée. This special root vegetable, increasingly popular on our tables in recent years, is paired with Olizzi Baby Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil for a wholesome and flavorful result.
Why Sweet Potato?
Sweet potatoes aren’t just a popular vegetable—they’re a nutritional powerhouse and an excellent choice for babies’ first foods. Rich in vitamins A and C, potassium, and fiber, their natural sweetness and soft texture make them perfect for delicate palates. In Türkiye, sweet potatoes come in purple, orange, and yellow varieties. In this recipe, we use the orange-fleshed type, reminiscent of pumpkin.
Ingredients
- Sweet potatoes (peeled and diced)
- Olizzi Baby Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
How to Prepare Sweet Potato Purée
-
Cook the sweet potatoes:
Boil or steam the diced sweet potatoes in unsalted water. You can save the cooking water for soups or other recipes if desired. -
Mash into purée:
Mash the cooked sweet potatoes with a fork or spatula. No special tools are required, as the potatoes naturally become soft and creamy. -
Add olive oil:
Generously drizzle Olizzi Baby Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil over the mashed sweet potatoes. This cold-pressed oil, harvested from wild olives, is ideal for your baby’s healthy development. Stir until the purée reaches a smooth and creamy consistency. -
Serve safely:
Allow the purée to cool to a lukewarm temperature before serving. Optionally, drizzle a little more olive oil on top for extra richness.
Why Choose Olizzi Baby Olive Oil?
Olizzi Baby Organic Olive Oil is specially developed for babies’ delicate digestive systems. Harvested during the wild olive season, when olives are just turning from green to purple, it is at its peak for both flavor and nutritional value. Cold-pressed, it has low acidity, a smooth taste, and is rich in natural antioxidants and healthy olive oil acids.
A Delicious Option for Parents, Too
